One amount, different partitions
Start with three quarters of a whole. If every quarter is divided into equal smaller pieces, does the shaded amount change?
Explain why multiplying only the numerator would change the amount, but multiplying both parts by the same number does not.
Which sum is more likely?
Roll two fair six sided dice. Each ordered pair is equally likely in this model. Predict whether a sum of seven or a sum of two has more possible pairs.
The model assumes fair dice and independent rolls. A small sample of real rolls can differ from these proportions. How would you design a fair test?
